Moses Lake man barricades self in home after alleged assault

MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man is in jail after a standoff with police, according to a statement from the Moses Lake Police Department.
At about 4:30 p.m., MLPD officers responded to a call at a residence in the 100 block of West Loop Drive, according to the statement. Miguel Urena, 28, had reportedly struck his 26-year-old sister in the face with a pistol. The victim, who was not named, fled the residence and Urena barricaded himself in the residence. Police safely called Urena out and placed him in custody.
Urena was booked into Grant County Jail on first-degree assault with a firearm and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, the MLPD wrote. The victim sustained bruises and scratches to her face.

MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
