Free Ski School at Lookout Pass delays classes

The start to seasonal classes through the Free Ski School at Lookout Pass is being delayed by the weather. Classes had been set to start for young beginners Saturday and are now being postponed until Jan. 13.

The staging areas where the free group skiing and snowboard lessons took place didn't allow for the deeper snowpack to build up the safety barriers for children.

Tammy Nusz is on the board of directors for the program and said that safety is always their No. 1 concern, and with winter conditions not allowing for prime conditions for the initial training, they came to a consensus to delay the first lesson.

"Trying to teach 150 kids on a bunny hill is very difficult," Nusz said.
