Canadian duo to perform concert in Superior

Bridge & Wolak are a globe-trotting duo from Canada who create life-affirming concerts full of beauty, virtuosity and humor.
Michaael Bridge on accordion, and Kornel Wolak on clarinet (both also play the piano) met over a decade ago and immediately established an artistic alliance based on the attraction of opposites: Wolak is intensely focused with a world view infused with a large slice of sardonic humor. Where Bridge is flexible, fearless and exhibits a playful wit. Their commonality is a love of classical, jazz and world music with a passion for performance.
Growing up in Calgary, Bridge began playing at age 5 when his mother purchased an accordion for $5.00 at a garage sale. A family friend taught him to play by ear with formal lessons beginning at age 7. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Toronto and was a Rebanks Fellows at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto.
Wloclawek is a small city west of Warsaw, where Wolak began with piano lessons at 5 years of age. At 12, he took up the clarinet and became obsessed with mastering the instrument. Wolak received his doctorate from Paderewski Music Academy in Pozan, Poland.
Audiences enjoy everything from Bach to Benny Goodman as they tour the world playing dozens of original shows a year. And the Mineral County Performing Arts Council has scheduled them to appear in Superior at the LDS Church, 117 Moats Lane, Friday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. This will be another free performance to attend as MCPAC has provided informal concerts since 2007.
