The top-ranked Flathead Braves and the always threatening Bravettes each picked up a dual victory on Thursday’s Crosstown at Glacier High School.

Match of the night honors go to Logan Stansberry and Mark Ahner at 170 pounds, with Stansberry picking up the 4-3 decision over the third-ranked Wolfpack grappler.

At the end of the night, the Braves picked up a 63-6 dual victory, while the Bravettes would take the dual 54-18.

“Overall, we wrestled with a lot of intensity and a lot of heart,” Flathead coach Jeff Thompson said. “Putting on a show for the big crowd tonight.”

The split crowd was very vocal, especially during the match at 170, where Thompson and Stansberry would each be issued an unsportsmanlike conduct violation. Thompson’s was for arguing with the official during an injury timeout, and Stansberry for his celebration following the match.

“It’s a new rule, it’s interpreted differently,” said Thompson on Stansberry’s violation. “The ref interprets that any celebration after a match is unsportsmanlike and (Stansberry) was just excited, he beat a ranked kid.”

The night started with the only other decision of the evening with Flathead’s Kellen Downing picking up a 7-3 win over Aiden Sweat of Glacier

The lone victory for the Wolfpack during the boys dual came at 145 from third-ranked Kaleb Shine. He took care of business against second-ranked Dane Lake, winning via fall at :55 seconds.

At 182 and 205, Gunnar and Anders Thompson each picked up a pin in under a minute to finish the dual off for the Braves.

In the girls dual Katelyn Sphuler got the Wolfpack started with a third-round pin against Flathead’s Mykel Lee.

Glacier’s third-ranked Brooke Yeadon quickly followed that up at 107 with a pin in :16 after a Selah Lackey injury.

At 120 Flathead’s second-ranked Bella Downing pinned Temree Payne-Taylor at 1:30 in the first round to pick up the Bravettes first victory of the evening.

In the final non-forfeit match of the evening at 138, Flathead’s Autumn Thompson picked up the win via pin over Glacier’s Auttem Kostelecky. In six non-forfeit matches both Glacier and Flathead won three, all six were decided via pin.

“Both Autumn Thompson bumping up to 138, and Brady Boll at 126 looked great,” said Flathead coach Amber Downing. “Both stuck to good positions and secured the needed pins.”
