PREP BASKETBALL: Sandpoint boys complete fourth quarter comeback to beat Timberlake
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year, 10 months AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | January 23, 2024 9:50 PM

Sandpoint 70, Timberlake 61
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint trailed for the majority of the game until the fourth quarter, where they outscored Timberlake 21-7 to capture a victory over the Tigers at Timberlake High on Tuesday night.
A handful of Bulldogs posted massive performances in the win. Derrick Chamberlain led the way with 20 points and hauled in 12 rebounds to complete a double-double. Parker Childs and Logan Roos each added 19 points of their own; Roos also added four steals and three blocks. Emerik Jones scored nine, and recorded a game-high 16 rebounds and six assists.
“We made enough plays to get the win,” head coach Brian Childs said. “We talked yesterday and today about how Timberlake was going to come out and play their best game against us — they did last year and did today … They went on a run to start the second half but we fought through the adversity and stayed the course. At the end of the night, it was satisfying to come away with the victory. They (Timberlake) shot the ball well and played some tough basketball.”
Sandpoint (8-9) will host Genesis Prep for senior night on Friday.
