ALL-STARS: Sandpoint 10U baseball’s season ends with close loss to CDA Blue

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | July 10, 2024 8:00 PM

HAYDEN — Bryant Hansen had an RBI single and pitched three no-hit innings in relief as the Sandpoint 10U All-Stars comeback bid fell just short against CDA Blue, 5-4, in an Idaho District 1 Little League loser-out game held Wednesday at Croffoot Field in Hayden.

In the bottom of the second inning, CDA Blue put up all five of their runs after reaching on a couple of errors and putting together back-to-back-to-back hits. Down but not out, Sandpoint rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Hansen and Isaac Inman had RBI singles during the rally while Nash Albertson was able to knock in a run after reaching on an error.

In the bottom of the fifth, Hansen, who gave up just two walks and struck out three batters over his three no-hit innings, went 1-2-3 after Sandpoint allowed the lead-off hitter to reach on an error. In the sixth, Sandpoint fought hard, even getting the tying run into scoring position, but couldn’t quite get the base hit they were looking for.

Nash Oliver started the game and struck out three batters over two innings. Sawyer Olsen and Lane Raykowski also had singles in the game for Sandpoint.
