Crowds braved the heat to gather downtown Bonners Ferry for the community’s annual Independence Day parade in celebration of the nation’s birth on July 4.
The streets were filled with a festive atmosphere as music played and people secured their spots in anticipation for the parade to begin. Red, white and blue dominated the crowd as flags waved and many dressed in theme for the celebration.
Bonners Ferry always puts on a great parade and this year’s parade did not disappoint, with participants including local groups, businesses and individuals.
After the parade, the events moved to the fairgrounds for a day of activity and fun before the fireworks celebration. The venue was filled with people visiting vendors, children playing games and having fun on the playground, the scent of barbecue wafted on the breeze and live music added to the party-like mood.
The crowd continued to grow as the sun slowly slipped behind the mountains. Chairs and blankets began to fill the field in preparation for the highly anticipated fireworks show, while children raced across the park with glowing headbands and necklaces.
Eventually, when darkness finally fell, the show began. Music played along as the fireworks lit up the fairgrounds for about 15 minutes.
The Bonners Ferry fireworks display is organized by Forerunner, Inc, a non-profit created to fund and promote the Bonners Ferry Independence Day celebration, as well as numerous volunteers.
The show is funded by donations from local residents and businesses.
