COEUR d'ALENE — For the 12th straight day, the temperature hit at least 90 degrees Monday.
And there's plenty more where that came from.
"We're not done yet," said climatologist Cliff Harris.
It's only going to get hotter as the week goes on, moving into the mid- to high-90s, and then it's expected to top 100 this weekend.
It's also dry as dirt.
Harris said it hasn't rained this month and there's a good chance it could be the 16th July since 1890 to not see a single drop. Hot and dry is the continued forecast. It usually rains nearly an inch in July, but not this year.
"Hardly even a passing cloud," Harris said.
According to the Coeur d'Alene Agency Interagency Center, fire danger remains high in North Idaho but no major fires have been reported.
To try and stay cool, kids have turned to leaping into Lake Coeur d'Alene from Tubbs Hill, air conditioners have been selling like crazy, and ice cream sales are red hot.
Harris said thanks to a high-pressure ridge over the area, the streak of 90 or above could reach 20 straight days next week.
"It's going to be a tough summer," he said.

A mother's words, and love, echo in time
If I am quiet for a moment, I can hear her voice and I have to chuckle because her words were not always calm, sweet and reassuring. Oh, not that she was mean. She was just speaking her mind and yes, wanted to have a little fun at the expense of those she loved.
