COEUR d’ALENE — Police arrested two brothers on drug related-charges Wednesday, one of whom allegedly provided the illegal pills that caused a fatal overdose earlier in the day, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeremiah D. Kamp, 30, of Renton, Wash., is charged with possession of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance, both felonies. Michael D. Kamp, 33, of Sandpoint, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

The sheriff’s office responded to two suspected overdose deaths that occurred within three hours of each other Wednesday, one involving a 20-year-old Hauser Lake man and the other involving a 24-year-old Post Falls man.

Because of the timing of the deaths, police believed “there may be information to lead to the discovery of the source of the drugs” and interviewed multiple subjects about their involvement, according to court records.

Detectives determined that Jeremiah Kamp was among the last people who saw the Post Falls man before his death and contacted Kamp at an apartment in Coeur d’Alene. His brother, Michael Kamp, was also present when police arrived and allegedly had illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Jeremiah Kamp told police that, prior to his death, the man had accompanied him to Spokane Valley, where Kamp purchased illicit oxycodone pills from a dealer, according to court records. Kamp said he split the pills with the other man and the pair returned to Coeur d’Alene.

Hours later, the man died of an apparent overdose, police said.

Police arrested the brothers. Jeremiah Kamp remains in jail on $75,000 bail, while Michael Kamp is being held on $20,000 bail.
