Convention delegates of the Idaho Democratic Party have unanimously endorsed Kamala Harris as the party’s presidential nominee.
Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea released a statement in response to the 27 delegates' support for Harris, saying in part:
“Idaho Democrats are united in our support of Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States. ... Idaho Democrats are fired up and ready to get to work because the stakes in this election couldn’t be higher.”
Prior to the announcement, the Kootenai County Democratic Executive Committee told The Press, "As Kamala Harris gains momentum as a presidential candidate, she must earn the nomination. She certainly exemplifies the principles that we as Democrats appreciate."
Today, the Kootenai Democrats expanded on their position. "Local Democrats are energized by Vice President Kamala Harris's historic campaign to lead our nation as the next President of the United States," said Evan Koch, chair of the Kootenai County Democrats. "As a county we look forward to discussing her candidacy and listening with open minds to feedback from the entire executive and central committees at our next scheduled meetings."
Local Democrats haven't officially voted to endorse Harris. The vote is set to take place Aug. 12.
