Kootenai River Days reunites friends, creates memories

I have deep North Idaho roots and graduated from Eastern Washington University with an English degree with a creative writing emphasis with a minor in film. I worked at at the Bonner County Daily Bee before coming to work at the Bonners Ferry Herald in August 2021. I enjoy writing for the paper that my great-grandfather read and covering the same small town community that is still alive today. I cover all things Badger sports, local politics and government, community news, business, outdoors and appear on the 7Bee podcast for the Herald's update. When I'm not working I can be found reading a good book and sipping tea, knitting or attempting to sign opera. | July 25, 2024 1:00 AM
BONNERS FERRY — Kootenai River Days was a time of rekindling friendships and making new memories for all in attendance, particularly the Class of 2004, which held its 20th reunion the same weekend.
The Grapes and Barley Walk kicked off Kootenai River Days, on Thursday, July 18, as friends and newly-21 goers sampled wine and hors d'oeuvres at downtown businesses.
Community members flocked to the street dance on Friday, July 19, and came back for a packed Saturday, including the Kootenai River Run, famers marker, Birdies for Brothers Golf Tournament and cornhole tournament.
Throughout KRD, kids and those young-at-heart were invited to decorate the downtown sidewalks with art as part of “Chalk the Block” organized by teascarlet Fine Art.
This year, over 250 people got on their hands and knees drawing cartoons, hopscotch squares and the like as they let their creativity run wild.
Fifty-seven people entered the art contest, a staggering number compared to 13 participants in 2023.
Hannah Suscy, owner of teascarlet Fine Art said the turnout brought a smile to her face.
