OLYMPIA — According to a press release from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the current and projected hatchery production of Chinook Salmon falls below the necessary levels for meeting minimum spawning escapement and broodstock objectives for the Wenatchee River. As a result, portions of the Wenatchee River will not open for salmon fishing this year. The affected area spans from the mouth of the Wenatchee River to the Icicle Road Bridge crossing. These measures will be in effect from Aug. 1 through Sept. 30.
