MOSES LAKE — Community Athletics and Activities will be hosting a fundraiser at Lake Bowl in Moses Lake on Aug. 9, the organization’s second fundraising event in a two-week span.

“We’re fundraising money to help fund sports and activities, to have them and continue to support them,” said Brett Moser, event organizer and member on CAA’s fundraising committee. “(We) pay, so that they have an opportunity to continue those this year and next year.”

Moser said the idea to host a fundraiser at Lake Bowl stemmed from competing in the bowling league Thursday nights, and after talking with Cale Russell, CEO of the Ten Pin Territory that includes Lake Bowl as well as Ten Pin Brewing, Papa’s Casino and Ten Pin Inn & Suites, and Dan Stevenson, the fundraiser was set up.

“They’re amazing people, they love the community, they love this town,” Moser said. “Having them here to support the CAA and help contribute to funding was awesome.”

The fundraiser was announced about two weeks ago, and 12 of the 20 lanes have already been signed up for. Along with the night of bowling, there will be a silent auction and prizes.

“The interest level has been amazing, especially (people) throughout the community are willing to donate items for us to fundraise with,” Moser said. “... Everyone I’ve talked to and been able to get a hold of is like, ‘Yes, we have no problem donating.’”

Items in the silent auction include a Seattle Storm gift basket, with four tickets to a home game in either the 2024 or 2025 season, a piece of flooring from KeyArena, a book from Sue Bird, a rally towel and signed memorabilia; a three-person late-season goose hunt trip; four rounds of golf at the Moses Lake Golf Club and a meal at Pillar Rock; two rounds of golf at The Links at Moses Pointe; gift cards to Ernie’s Meats along with Webb Wine; and a 10-person meal and tour of the facilities at the Moses Lake Fire Department.

CAA held a fundraising event on Friday, a free concert by the Dimestore Prophets at McCosh Park in Moses Lake. The event brought in more than $3,000 according to a social media post by the CAA, bringing the total amount of money raised to more than $215,000.

Moser, who coaches inside receivers for the Moses Lake High School football team, spoke on the importance of extracurricular activities are from his perspective.

“It’s evident how important sports are and how important activities are to this community — it's just so important for those kids,” Moser said. “Speaking for athletics as a football coach, it’s so important for those kids whether it gives them an opportunity to continue in college, but it also teaches them leadership, team building, camaraderie and accountability.”

CAA’s bowling fundraiser begins at 5 p.m. Aug. 9 and runs until 9 p.m. at Lake Bowl. The price for a lane is $675, and can fit six people per lane.

Those interested in signing up for the event can contact Moser at 509-607-2704.

“It’s going to be exciting for everyone just to have a good time,” Moser said.
