Three Kootenai County graduates are among 16 in North Idaho and central Washington to receive $1,250 scholarships from Numerica Credit Union.

Numerica announced in a Monday news release it awarded a total of $20,000 through its annual Starting off Right Scholarship program, which aids graduating high school seniors as they pursue higher education.

North Idaho's recipients are Javan Tesky, Christian Center School; Matthew Moller, Post Falls High School; and Paige Wilton, Coeur d'Alene High School.

“Numerica is passionate about helping students achieve their dreams,” Kim Pearman-Gillman, Numerica’s senior vice president of equity and community development, said in the news release. “We understand that continuing your education is an investment; one that we believe will make a difference in these young members’ lives. This need-based scholarship supports students who share Numerica’s commitment to enhancing lives, fulfilling dreams and building communities.”

Numerica has offered more than $235,000 in scholarships to support its members since 2016.

To be eligible for the Starting off Right Scholarship, applicants were required to be Numerica members in good standing as well as high school seniors entering into trade, vocational, certificate, associate or bachelor’s degree programs this fall. Other requirements included letters of recommendation, copies of acceptance letters from regional or national accredited institutions and completing the "Preparing to Pay for College" quiz.
