MOSES LAKE – Treatment for algal blooms in Moses Lake waters began Monday and continues through June 12, according to a press release from the Pollack Group, which represents EutroPHIX, the contractor performing the treatment.

According to the release, the algae blooms are caused by unhealthy amounts of phosphorus building up in the lake. The team will be treating the lake using EutroSORB technology, a lanthanum modified clay that is pumped into the water. The clay locks up excess phosphorus and restores the water to healthy levels while mitigating or eliminating algal blooms.
