Superior High’s Jaxson Green, who recently signed to play to football this coming fall at Montana Tech in Butte, made a few Orediggers’ coaches feel pretty good about their new recruit.

Green, who recently placed second in the State Class B Western Division shot put championships, is a massive guy who played quarterback at Superior and likes contact.

He got the Blue team on the scoreboard first with an opening quarter touchdown pass during the annual Bob Cleverley 8-man football all-star game last week on Tech’s home field.

Green found Mission’s Landon Walks Over Ice with a 39-yard first quarter scoring strike, heling propel the Blue team’s 48-24 win over the Red squad, which was played under rainy skies and delayed by lightning at one point.

Blue team offensive MVP Ethan Triplett, who is headed to Carroll College in Helena on a football scholarship this Fall, intercepted a pair of passes, and ran for a 0-yard touchdown in the third quarter to lead his team’s win over the Reds.

Triplett played on the state runner-up Belt team which lost the 8-player championship game to Fairview this season, 40-28. Triplett also caught a 28-yard scoring strike from fellow Tech recruit Reese Paulson, who signed to play basketball next year at Tech.

Green, who was chosen to play in the game along with Superior teammate Lucas Kovalsky, also threw a 40-yard TD pass to Valley Christian’s Elijah Fisher late in the fourth quarter, giving the Blue squad a 48-16 lead.

Another local player, Charlo High lineman Jacob Tomlin, was named the defensive MVP of the game.

This year’s game was the 40th time the B-8 all-star game has been played.
