Police seized firearms, methamphetamine and fentanyl after raiding a home Wednesday night, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office and joint SWAT team executed a search warrant Wednesday at a home in the 11000 block of West Wyoming Avenue.

Police arrested 60-year-old Rathdrum resident Donna K. Carrico on a felony warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of possession of a controlled substance, according to a news release. Michael J. Carrico, 30, of Rathdrum, was also arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris highlighted the fentanyl crisis in North Idaho.

“Fentanyl is destroying communities all over this country and Kootenai  County is not immune,” Norris said in a news release. “99 percent of fentanyl in Kootenai County can be tracked to the Southern Border.”

Norris did not cite the source of that statistic.

Josh Hurwit, U.S. Attorney for the District of Idaho, has said fentanyl enters the U.S. through the northern and southern borders and is most frequently brought into the United States by Americans.
