Several Lincoln County first responders were at the scene of a traffic accident Saturday, June 8, on U.S. 2 at the intersection of Farm to Market Road.

Two pickup trucks collided and two people were injured, according to law enforcement. The trucks involved were a brown Mazda 4x4 and a blue Ford F-150.

According to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Jessica Lyles, the driver of the Mazda, a 62-year-old Libby man, was on Farm to Market Road attempting to cross the highway in an attempt to reach Pearl Street when he struck the F-150, which headed east on U.S. 2.

The 62-year-old Libby man was taken to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center by ambulance with moderate injuries. He was wearing his seat belt and it is believed the air bag deployed.

The 59-year-old Libby man driving the F-150 had serious injuries, according to Trooper Lyles. He was taken to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center by ambulance before being flown by A.L.E.R.T. air ambulance to Logan Health in Kalispell. He was then taken to Billings Clinic for further treatment.

As of Monday afternoon, he is still in critical condition, according to Trooper Lyles. An air bag was deployed in his truck. He was not wearing a seat belt.

First responders included two units from Libby Volunteer Ambulance, three from Libby Volunteer Fire Department, multiple units from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Montana Highway Patrol.

Both trucks were removed from the scene by South End Towing.

The accident is still being investigated by MHP.
