WENATCHEE — People who are interested in becoming United States citizens are being invited to a program that will provide local access to citizenship resources June 25-27 at the Wenatchee Public Library, 310 Douglas St.

The U.S. Citizenship Information Service is partnering with NCW Libraries on the project.

"We're excited to bring these critical services to Wenatchee," said Summer Hayes of NCW Libraries. "Residents currently must travel long distances."

The program starts with a free Naturalization 101 information session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 25. Officials will answer non-case questions in English and Spanish. USCIS will then host pre-scheduled naturalization interviews June 26-27. A ceremony for selected participants is planned June 26.

Officials from the USCIS Yakima office will be on-site for the event. It aims to assist an estimated 2,500 eligible lawful permanent residents in Central Washington seeking to naturalize.

The nonprofit Hand in Hand Immigration will share naturalization services.

The partnership aligns with the library system's goal of meeting local needs through community collaborations, according to the press release announcing the services.
