GoFundMe set up for local hockey player injured by skate blade

Coeur d’Alene youth hockey coach and Frontier adult league hockey player Justin Starkey was injured recently when a skate blade from a falling player cut the back of his calf while he was playing in a tournament on Memorial Day weekend at Frontier Ice Arena.  

Since the accident, there have been several complications which have sent Starkey's medical bills soaring to almost $40,000. Now there is a GoFundMe to help Starkey cover the debt.

"As part of the North Idaho Hockey Family, I ask you to consider a donation to help the family cover the cost," organizer Christopher George wrote on GoFundMe. "Starkey is a active player (on) local hockey teams and a strong supporter and coach of youth hockey for the Coeur d'Alene Hockey Association. We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help the family offset some of the $40,000 or so that this accident will end up costing them."
