Ephrata School District seeking board candidates

EPHRATA — The Ephrata School District is looking for individuals interested in filling an open position on the district’s school board, according to a press release from the district.
“The vacancy comes following the resignation of Director Alan Key, who stepped down Feb. 29 after 14 years of service to the Ephrata community,” the press release said.
The new board member, once selected, would serve the remainder of Key’s term which express in December of next year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, a qualified voter and live within the boundaries of the school district’s fifth seat. Applications are due by March 20 at 4 p.m.
To apply, candidates must provide a biographical sketch or resume and a statement describing why they wish to serve on the board. Neither should exceed one typed page. Additional information on the process may be found at https://bit.ly/EPHBOARD.
Current board members will review applications during an executive session Monday, March 25. Interviews will be scheduled in April. Administration of the successful candidate’s Oath of Office will occur at the beginning of the April 22 school board meeting.

Boys and Girls Club logo allegedly used in Moses Lake scam
MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
