DISTRICT 1 ALL-STAR BASKETBALL GAMES: Viks' Orchard shines for East, earns MVP honors

MULLAN — Logan Orchard, a senior from Coeur d’Alene High who has signed with NAIA Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, earned Most Valuable Player honors with 19 points for the East in a 78-67 win over the West All-Stars in the 37th District 1 All-Star boys basketball game at the Mullan Pavilion on Friday.
Orchard also won the 3-point contest between games, beating Wallace’s Britany Phillips. St. Maries’ Wyatt Holmes won the slam dunk contest.
The game, which matches the top area seniors, was postponed in 2023 due to hazardous road conditions, the second time in four years (2020, COVID-19) that the game had been called off.
Lakeside’s Liam Hendrickx scored 20 points for the West.
