STUDIO BASIN: Roads, ACPR and boys soccer
STAFF REPORT | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 years AGO
MOSES LAKE — The Studio Basin podcast is on the road, in a manner of speaking, looking at the plethora of road construction projects in Grant County in spring and summer 2024.
Senior Reporter Cheryl Schweizer recaps how the Washington Department of Transportation will be repaving the section of State Route 17 through Moses Lake beginning April 1. Most of the work will be done at night, but drivers should expect flagger-controlled traffic in the work zones.
Department of Transportation contractors also have started a multiyear project to rebuild the deck of the Vantage Bridge on Interstate 90, with completion expected in 2027. Crews will work Monday through Friday through the end of May, when they will shift to seven days per week. Drivers should plan a little extra time when traveling on I-90, since traffic on the bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the work zone.
Grant County drivers will have to plan to detour around two closed bridges. Bridge 202 is near Moses Lake, south of the Port of Moses Lake, and Bridge 247 is southeast of Warden. A section of Bridge 247 was damaged, and the entire bridge has been removed. Grant County Engineer David Bren said design will start on the Bridge 247 replacement this year.
And one more — Bren said county officials hope to replace the caution light and stop signs at the intersection of Road 12 SW and South Dodson Road with a roundabout in 2024. The roundabout will be of the same design as the one at North Dodson Road and State Route 28 in Ephrata.
Staff Writer Gabriel Davis goes over recent news out of the Adams County Pet Rescue, including the ACPR still being in operation despite being in danger of going under in October, turning down a contract with the city of Othello and the ACPR no longer accepting dogs from the city of Othello.
Sports Reporter Ian Bivona summarizes recent boys soccer games, including matches in Quincy, Othello and Ephrata. Bivona also previews the Columbia Basin Herald’s spring sports and golf previews that were included in recent editions of the Columbia Basin Herald.

Licensing locations
COLUMBIA BASIN — There are three ways to buy a fishing license in Washington. Anglers can visit the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife website at fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov and order online, or they can call 360-902-2464 to order one. Online and phone orders may take seven to 10 days before you receive your license, according to the WDFW website, so the fastest way is to visit a licensed dealer. Here are the dealers in Grant and Adams counties:
