PREP ROUNDUP: Trojan boys dominate at Lewiston Invitational

LEWISTON — Post Falls senior Cobe Cameron notched wins in the 200-, 400, 4x200 and 4x400-meter relay, leading the Trojans to the boys team title at the Lewiston Invitational at Vollmer Bowl.
“The boys had another really good day,” Post Falls coach Wade Quesnell said. “Both of our relays teams were really strong. It was just another good day of work before spring break.”
Area schools return to action at the Kootenai County Challenge on April 5 at Timberlake High.

Vikings drop Highland,
fall to Rocky Mountain
MERIDIAN — Harrison Trunkey-Evans struck out eight over 5.2 innings for the Vikings in a 12-2 win over Pocatello in the Rocky Mountain Invitational at Rocky Mountain High.
“Harrison threw an absolute gem,” Coeur d’Alene coach Erik Karns said. “Our young hitters are growing up in front of our eyes. Our approaches were good all day and they’re starting to play good baseball.”
Senior Chause Sanders drove in three runs against Highland for Coeur d’Alene (3-2), which lost 11-1 to host Rocky Mountain in its late game.
“We’re trending upwards,” Karns said. “We’re young, and going to have some growing pains, but two years from now, these young guys are going to be dudes.”
Coeur d’Alene faces Owyhee and Rocky Mountain today to conclude the tournament.

Rocky Invitational
MERIDIAN — Senior Cole Stoddard had three hits and two RBIs for the Timberwolves in a victory over Rocky Mountain in their opening game in the Rocky Mountain Invitational.
Senior Cooper Smith and junior Jack Pierce also had two RBIs for Lake City, which scored eight runs in the first inning.
Later, senior Sean Jimenez had the lone Timberwolves hit, a single in the fifth inning, in a 3-0 loss to Highland.
Lake City (3-2) concludes the tournament today with games against Madison of Rexburg and Mountain View of Meridian at Mountain View High School.

Trojans improve to 5-0
with wins on Friday
BOISE — Brandon Morrison tripled and drove in two runs for the Trojans, who held off Bishop Kelly 10-9 in the Buck’s Bags Tournament at Capital High.
Ayden Carrasco had two RBIs and Austin DeBoer seven strikeouts for Post Falls (4-0), which led 7-0 after three innings.
In the nightcap, DeBoer hit a three-run home run for the Trojans, who improved to 5-0, beat the host Eagles 14-10.
DeBoer, who signed with Washington State earlier this month, hit a three-run home run, Gabe Diamond scored three runs for Post Falls, which faces Pocatello today at Capital High to conclude the tournament.
