COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Newhart drops 13 RBIs in doubleheader
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year, 7 months AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | May 1, 2024 7:00 PM
Cody Newhart, Lackawanna College Baseball
Sandpoint product Cody Newhart went a combined 7-for-10 with three singles, three doubles, and a triple to go along with 13 RBIs and seven runs scored as the Falcons swept Luzerne County Community College 39-0 and 22-1 on Wednesday.
Newhart had nine RBIs and three of his extra-base hits in the first game and four RBIs in the second game. It was the most RBIs he has had in a game since April 7, when he had five on 2-for-6 hitting against Monroe County Community College. Just a freshman, Newhart now holds a .333 batting average on the season across 45 at-bats. He has knocked in 26 RBIs for the Falcons, who are currently riding a seven-game winning streak.
Lackawanna College (27-21) faces Community College of Baltimore (Essex) on Friday.
