100 Years Ago

Today is "Sneak Day" for members of the senior class of the local high school. Students made careful plans to evade members of the junior class and left early this morning in several autos for Eastport. They absconded Miss Adams, the class advisor.

The board of trustees of School District No. 13 plan to build a modern brick schoolhouse for the Cow Creek district, the old school building having burned a few weeks ago.

Mrs. Arthur Campbell will present her piano class Sunday, May 5 at 2:30pm, in the United Methodist Church. Anyone interested in music and children is invited to come.

Rex Theatre proprietors said this week that they are forced to raise prices effective Friday, May 3. Tickets for children through 11 years old will remain 50 cents; students 12 through high school $1.25, adults $1.50, and balcony $1.75.

The Naples Volunteer Fire Department, less than a year old, has received a "Keep Idaho Green" award from Governor Cecil B. Andrus for outstanding service.

Delta Kappa Gamma named Juli Abraham April's Student of the Month.

Bonners Ferry boy's golf team won the Intermountain League match for a second year in a row.

The Elmira Store, which had been serving home-style food for decades, was recently forced to abandon its restaurant component after its water well was deemed to be out of compliance, according to store owner Ed Cook.

Two-time defending salsa champ Kevin Callas is eyeing a third title for this Saturday's 3rd Annual Bonners Ferry Salsa Fest.
