Karl Edie will take over the reins at RIS in the fall, the RSD wrote.
Edie, who is the assistant principal at Walter Strom Middle School in Cle Elum, was previously the regional attendance and re-engagement counselor with Educational Service District 105, based in Yakima, according to the announcement. Before that, he spent nine years as an elementary school principal in the Wahluke School District. He has also been an elementary teacher and principal in the Starbuck School District.
“Mr. Edie has an impressive background in education, having served as an educator, administrator, and advocate for student success,” wrote Royal School District Superintendent Roger Trail in the announcement. “His commitment to fostering a positive learning environment aligns perfectly with the school’s mission. We believe that his leadership will enhance the educational experience for our students, staff, and families.”
As the new principal of Royal Intermediate School, Edie is looking forward to working collaboratively with staff and families to continue the school’s proud traditions, the RSD wrote.
"I am thrilled to join the amazing Royal City School District and community and look forward to teaming with staff, students, and families to provide a fun and dynamic learning environment for our kids!” Edie wrote in the announcement “Together, we will aim to inspire curiosity and a love of learning in every student.”

Valentine’s Day cards flood Brookdale Hearthstone with love
MOSES LAKE — Residents at Brookdale Hearthstone Assisted Living in Moses Lake got Valentine’s Day greetings from across the country last month. “I believe that the only states we have not received (cards from) yet are Vermont and Maine,” Lifestyle Director Imelda Broyles said Feb. 24. “We keep receiving new cards every single day. They have not stopped. My residents are in awe with every single one of the cards that we’ve been receiving.” The Hearts Across America project started as a way for children in school classrooms to exchange Valentine’s Day cards with classes in other states or even countries, but the idea has expanded to senior living facilities, according to the project’s social media.
