The Idaho Panhandle Resource Advisory Committee is accepting proposals for natural resource improvement projects to receive funding through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.

The deadline for submitting proposals is Monday, June 10.

The committee will allocate $442,499 of Title II funding to projects that invest in, and create employment opportunities through:

⦁ Improvement of existing infrastructure maintenance.

⦁ Implementation of stewardship objectives that enhance forest ecosystems.

⦁ Restoration and improvement of land health and water quality.

Projects must comply with all applicable federal laws and regulations. They should also be located on or nearby National Forest System lands in Shoshone, Kootenai, Benewah, Boundary or Bonner counties.

Projects can be completed by Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements, or by open bid contracting with individuals and corporations.

Proponents are encouraged to coordinate with local Forest Service offices and staff prior to submitting a proposal.

Applications, previous year activities, and more information can be found at Idaho Panhandle National Forests — Advisory Committees (usda.gov), or by request from RAC Coordinator Patrick Lair at patrick.lair@usda.gov.

The committee will review proposals at their next scheduled meeting, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene.
