BONNERS FERRY — Eli Pine, known by many locals as the man who walks, is again organizing a personal walk-a-thon to fundraise for shoes for area youths.

Eli and his wife, Anna, manage Hope House, a local non-profit which assists individuals and families facing financial difficulties afford basic necessities. At the end of the summer, Hope House puts on the annual Back to School Bash, a community party where families can get needed school supplies and school clothing before school starts.

In order to raise funds for new kid shoes, Eli is organizing a June walk-a-thon with a goal of walking 300 miles. 

He said many of the families that have utilized the Back to School Bash in past years, regularly utilize Hope Houses services. 

Eli has said, although donated kid shoes are helpful, providing brand new shoes is the goal. Those wishing to pledge a donation for each mile walked should reach out to [email protected]

Donations are tax deductible and pledges are requested by June 1, 2024. 

Hope House has locations in Bonners Ferry and Moyie Springs. 

In Moyie Springs, Hope House is located at 5100 Camelot Lane, Duplex A; and, in Bonners Ferry, 6389 Bonner St. Both locations are open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Eli has done other walk-a-thons for local causes. In 2022 he walked for the Friends of the Restorium to provide financial support for quality of life activities for Boundary County Restorium residents.
