Memorial Day remembrance events scheduled

MOSES LAKE — Veterans, especially those who died in service to their country, will be remembered with Memorial Day ceremonies in communities around the Columbia Basin.

American Legion Post 28, Ephrata, will join with local VFW chapters and Legion Post 183, Quincy, for remembrance ceremonies in three communities May 27. Ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Soap Lake Cemetery, at 11 a.m. in the cemetery in Ephrata and 12:30 p.m. at the Quincy cemetery. Each ceremony is a little different, but each one includes speakers, a 21-gun salute in honor of veterans and playing taps.

A memorial ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Pioneer Memorial Gardens, 14403 Road 2 NE, Moses Lake. Volunteers will put out flags, and the service includes speeches and activities in remembrance.
