Price, Bjerke hold off challengers, levies fail

State Rep. Elaine Price received 4,000 votes, 60.3%, to beat challenger Dave Raglin, who received 2,630 votes, 39.6%, in the contest for District 4, Seat B, in Tuesday's Republican primary election with all 73 precincts reporting.
District 5 Sen. Carl Bjerke received 5,827 votes, 77.5% to easily beat Cheri Zao with 1,692 votes, 22.5%.
The Hauser Lake Fire District's request to increase its budget was soundly defeated, with 472 no votes, 63.7%, to 268 yes votes, 36.2%.
The $480,675 maintenance and operations levy would have raised Hauser Fire’s annual base budget from $255,392 to $736,067. It needed 66.67% voter approval.
The Plummer-Worley Joint School District's supplemental levy was defeated, with 222 no votes, 57.3%, to 165 yes votes, 42.6%.
