OTHELLO — Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies aided Othello Police Department officers after a passenger vehicle failed to stop for an OPD patrol vehicle, according to an ACSO statement.
Emilio Martinez-Silva, 25, was arrested after an OPD officer observed the vehicle spinning out and failed to stop when emergency lights were turned on. The white vehicle was eventually relocated as it traveled east on East Main Street toward South SR 17. Deputies reported seeing the vehicle operating below the posted speed limit and with one wheel blown out.
A short pursuit later, the vehicle was stopped using a precision immobilization intervention technique — PIT — maneuver in the area of South Highway 17 and West Bench Road. Martinez-Silva was taken into custody for DUI and eluding officers.
