Paul L. Strong passed away Saturday May 11, 2024. Paul was born and raised in Indiana where he attended Purdue University. After completing his M.S. in Biological Science he visited Montana for a summer before attending the University of Iowa for a doctoral program. Whenever he was asked where he was from, he answered, “Montana!” Paul soon returned to the Flathead Valley where he lived for over 50 years. He would happily tell folks, “I have done about everything to survive in this valley. That includes gut boy in a slaughter house, substitute teacher, truck driver, crane operator, furniture mover and custodian.”

Paul married his wife Betty in 1990 and soon adopted her six children, ages 4 to 15. He often said that was the greatest accomplishment of his life.

Paul was an avid fishermen and master gardener and was well known at local farmers’ markets for his abundant produce and beautiful handmade woodworking treasures. His laid-back, friendly demeanor gathered him many friends over the years.

His love of life and laughter were infectious, and his commitment to living off the land and working with his hands was inspiring. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him, for their lives were forever enriched after spending time with him, including his 25 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 1st at 2:00 PM at the Bigfork LDS Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local food bank - as Paul was passionate about sharing with others and helping those in need.
