MOSES LAKE — Big Bend Community College has named Ben Griffin the college’s new athletics director, the college announced in a release Wednesday.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to President Sara Thompson Tweedy, Vice President Bryce Humpherys, and the search committee for this incredible opportunity to lead Big Bend Athletics,” Griffin said. “I look forward to collaborating with all of the BBCC coaches, staff, athletes, and supporters as we strive to elevate our athletic programs and foster a culture of success on the field and in the classroom.”
Griffin comes to Moses Lake after serving as the director of athletics and the wellness center at Lamar Community College in Lamar, Colo. A former Division III soccer player, Griffin shows commitment to community engagement through coaching youth sports, according to the announcement.
Griffin looks to bring a “dynamic and inclusive future” to Viking athletics, the college wrote. He aims to work with administration and athletic staff to foster the development of student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom.
“At Big Bend, our mission is success – success for our student-athletes, coaches, and the entire college community,” Griffin wrote in the announcement. “I am dedicated to creating an environment where every athlete can thrive, both in their sport and in their academic pursuits. Together, we will work to provide the resources, support, and opportunities necessary for our teams to achieve their goals.”
