MOSES LAKE — Incumbent Dan Newhouse led in the polls with 82,990 votes, or 50.35%, of the districtwide vote for the Fourth Congressional District U.S. Representative position Tuesday night, while his opponent Jerrod Sessler trailed with 79,161 votes, or 48.03%, according to the Office of the Secretary of State.
However, in Grant County, Sessler was ahead with 8,375 votes and 52.95% of the vote to Newhouse’s 7,218 votes and 45.64% of voters. In Adams County Sessler also led with 667 votes and 52.03% of the vote, to 590 votes or 46.02% for Newhouse.
The Grant County Auditor reported that about 150 votes had yet to be counted and the Adams County Auditor reported about 700. Some mail-in ballots are still in play as well.
During the Aug. 6 primary election, Sessler won the districtwide vote with around 51,000 votes or 33.06% of voters. Newhouse followed behind with around 36,000 votes or 23.37% of voters. Republican Tiffany Smiley received almost 30,000 votes and Democrat Mary Baechler received around 22,000 votes. Votes for other candidates and a larger turnout for the general election appear to have leaned in Newhouse’s favor.
Neither candidate answered requests for comment prior to press time.

Your time is valuable and we appreciate you being here.” That message – that showing up matters – was echoed by city and school leaders across the Columbia Basin, many of whom say public participation directly shapes decision-making, transparency and long‑term planning.
