Zufelt, a 5-foot-8 freshman guard from Lake City High, scored nine points, hitting 3 of 5 from the 3-point line for the Vaqueros in a 70-68 win over the host Houston Cougars to open the season on Tuesday. Texas-Rio Grande Valley travels to Texas-San Antonio on Saturday (noon, ESPN+).

Colvin, a 5-7 freshman guard from Coeur d'Alene High, had two points and three rebounds in eight minutes played for the Rebels in a 73-57 win over Loyola Marymount on Monday in Las Vegas.

Faulkner, nee Baker, who played basketball at Lake City High and attended Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy, won her first game as head coach of the Waves, beating Cal State Fullerton 59-57 on Monday in Malibu, Calif.
Blake Buchanan
Virginia basketball
Buchanan, 6-11 sophomore post and former Lake City High star, had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Cavaliers in a 65-56 win over Campbell on Wednesday in Charlottesville, Va. Buchanan also had five assists and three blocks for Virginia.
