Vikings fall to Wenatchee Valley

MOSES LAKE — A win over Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday could have kept Big Bend’s playoff hopes alive, but the Vikings were unable to tie the match in the fourth set, falling 3-1 to the Knights.
The Vikings fell to 11-16 overall with the loss and 4-8 in conference matches.
“Tonight was a very emotional match, knowing what was on the line and it's frustrating that we couldn't find a way to get it done,” Head Coach Alexa Moser said in a release. “On the other hand, playoffs might be out of the picture, but these girls have accomplished so much and made huge strides in building the foundation of this program that I'm excited to see it take off. There is still so much good from this season that they should hold their heads high and be proud of what they've accomplished."
Big Bend dropped the first two sets with scores of 25-14 and 25-18 but rallied to win the third set 25-18. In the final frame, Wenatchee Valley won 25-11.
"Same story it seems like of being so up and down throughout a match,” Moser said. “Volleyball is a game of momentum, and our opponents are going to go on runs just like we will, but unfortunately, we've been seeing more of opponents stringing together runs and us not being able to reciprocate that. We matched Wenatchee's fast-paced offense and would have great rallies, but we struggled being on the winning end of those long plays. On our end, we just couldn't find a way to put a ball away and, on their end, we couldn't shut down their offense."
The Vikings have two games remaining on the schedule, traveling to Walla Walla CC on Friday at 6 p.m. and hosting Treasure Valley CC on Saturday at 2 p.m.
