About 80 legislators are expected in Coeur d'Alene next week for the 2024 Idaho State Legislative Tour.

They are scheduled to visit businesses, meet veterans, tour industries and highlight key issues in North Idaho, including workforce development, education, health care and housing.

The Coeur d'Alene Regional Chamber, in partnership with the Idaho Chamber Alliance, organized the tour scheduled Monday to Wednesday.

"It's coming together amazingly," said Linda Coppess, Coeur d'Alene Regional Chamber president and CEO. 

Caroline Merritt, alliance executive director, said the tour is an opportunity for Idaho’s legislators to connect with local business leaders, understand the region’s unique needs and see firsthand how legislative action impacts North Idaho’s economy and communities.

“Our goal is to foster meaningful discussions that will shape policies critical to the continued growth and prosperity of our state," she said.

Coppess said she hopes legislators come away with a clear understanding of what makes this region unique, "and why we need their help on legislative issues."

She said it's also a chance for North Idaho citizens and leaders to build relationships with their elected leaders.

There's another opportunity with having so many legislators in town, Coppess said.

"We want to showcase this beautiful place we get to call home," she said.

Gov. Brad Little will be in town and is scheduled to deliver a speech Tuesday.

The tour includes several ways for community members to participate, including purchasing tickets to attend the full tour, attending the welcome reception and dinner and attending the Governor’s Banquet.
