Jewel "Casey" Ann White (Routson), 82, passed away peacefully at home with loved ones Nov. 5, 2024. She was born to Lucille and Chester A. Routson in Leavenworth, Wash., June 23, 1942.
Growing up in Peshastin, Wash., she looked up to her two big brothers. In her early years, she spent her summers at Camp Zanika Lache. She graduated from Peshastin-Dryden High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from Central Washington University in 1966.
Her passion for teaching began in 1967. She worked for the Ephrata School District for more than 30 years. As a P.E. teacher, she enjoyed coaching and leading intramural sports.
Casey married John "Larry" White in the summer of 1972 in Leavenworth, Wash. Throughout her years she enjoyed traveling with numerous friends and those she met along her adventures. She was a dedicated member of her church, Parish Council member, leading youth groups and share groups in her home and volunteering many hours as a YLI member for longer than 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers Gary and Ronnie (MaryJo) Routson, nephew Michael Routson and best friend and cousin Richard Luders.
She is survived by her husband, John "Larry" White, daughters Jody White and Jennifer White; son David White and Jim (Melissa) White; grandchildren Max (Kaylee) Garza, Cai Garza, Jonah White, Olive White, Kobe White, Ryan Bechard and Zachary Bechard; great-grandchild Aceyn Garza, niece Kelly Routson, nephew Marty Greenlee and numerous extended family members.
Casey's service will be held Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church followed by a reception at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. A rosary will be held at the St. Rose Church on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School-Father Kerr Scholarship Fund or Friends of Camp Zanika Lache North Central Washington.
The White family would like to thank all who supported Casey throughout her illness. Beyond her community work and interests, she was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend. Her memory will be cherished by family, friends, students and community members.
