COLUMBIA BASIN — Comedy, drama and lots of holiday shopping are on the horizon this week in the Basin. Here are a few things coming up:

Nov. 15

Downtown tree lighting

Kick off the holiday season with local shopping, food and community spirit. Sponsored by the Downtown Moses Lake Association. 4 p.m. holiday crafts, scavenger hunt, hot cocoa and photos with Santa; 5:45 tree lighting at Sinkiuse Square, Moses Lake. Info: www.downtownmoseslake.org.

Alex Zerbe’s Zaniac Comedy Show

When was the last time you laughed as hard as your kids? Get ready for a wildly entertaining performance with Alex Zerbe, the “Professional Zaniac,” known for his unmatched energy and non-stop comedy. 7 p.m. at Lighthouse Community Center, 705 E. Nov. 15-16, 18-19

‘The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical’

Based on the popular Percy Jackson books, the musical follows Percy, a teenager who discovers he’s the son of the Greek sea god Poseidon, as he embarks on a quest to prevent a war among the gods. Along the way, he and his friends face mythological creatures and race against time to save the world. Evening performances $12 general or $15 reserved, matinees $12 general, $12 reserved. Moses Lake Farmers Market Fall Market

First-time home buyer class

Join real estate agents Jennifer Montemayor and Veronica Quintanilla of Summit Funding for an informative and interactive home buyer class. Experts will guide attendees through the home-buying process and answer questions. Friends of the Moses Lake Library book sale

Nov. 23-24

Counterspell Moses Lake

Young coders, artists and musicians are invited to take part in the Columbia Basin’s first hackathon, a 24-hour beginner-friendly game jam. Free food, prizes, T-shirts and stickers, as well as workshops, resources and mentors for game creators of all skill levels. Open to all sixth- through 12th-graders. No experience required.
