Nancy Sue Michels, 70

Nancy Michels was born in July of 1954 in Colorado to Ruthie and DW Smiley. She joined her sisters Sherry, Joanie, and Gayle fulfilling their family. The family moved to Billings where she attended school and eventually graduated from Sweet Grass High School in Big Timber. She moved back to Billings where she met and married Dave Michels. Together they had two children, James and Marsha. Nancy lived in Billings until 1990 when she and her children moved to Whitefish to be near family. She lived in the Whitefish area until 1998 when she bought a house in Columbia Falls.
She worked at Flathead Farm Mutual Insurance for many years prior to retiring in 2019.
Nancy was a beloved and sweet soul, often making sacrifices for her children and family.
She was preceded in death by her ancestors and sister Sherry.
She is survived by her children, James Michels and Marsha Hawkins, (husband Jim); grandchildren, Jared, Ayana, Dillon, and Ryan; sisters, Joanie Caudill (husband Howard) and Gayle Brown (husband Dan); and extended family including special niece, Ronica Hall along with her beloved dog, Gidget.
Nancy will be remembered as a kind and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend who loved family, life, and everything it had to offer.
Nancy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, with family at her side. Services are planned for Nov. 23 at the Whitefish United Methodist Church at 11 a.m.
