Susan 'Sue' Davis Reince, 68
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 hours, 37 minutes AGO
Sue Davis Reince passed away peacefully Oct. 22, 2024, at Hospice of North Idaho after a brief illness.
Sue was born to Jim and Rose Davis on Jan. 10, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the second youngest of four children. In 1960, her family moved from Columbus to Southern California. Sue graduated in 1974 from Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, Calif. She then completed coursework to become a registered dental hygienist.
Sue had a beautiful smile and sparkling green eyes that lit up the room. Her warm heart and generous spirit positively affected all those around her, including her future husband, Chuck. They fell in love and were married Nov. 7, 1981, in Huntington Beach, Calif. Sue and Chuck honeymooned in Kapalua, Maui, and made several memorable return trips. Their love was an example for their family. Notes to each other were always signed RLAF (Real Love Always and Forever), whether the note was a simple reminder to get milk at the store or a plan for an upcoming weekend getaway.
At the age of 34 and while 8 months pregnant, Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer. After successful treatment, Sue supported other women battling breast cancer and participated in several Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events.
In 1994, the family moved to Hayden, Idaho. Sue enjoyed gardening, cooking and knitting. But more than anything, Sue loved being a mother and grandmother.
Sue had a zest for life and loved taking girl trips with her best friends and family. Some of the comedic antics and heartfelt memories were on the “Ladies’ Trips” to places around the United States and Mexico with Mama (Loretta Reince, Chuck’s mother), Jody Reince (Chuck’s brother Bob’s wife) along with Mary Voisey and Carol Nosches, Chuck’s sisters. Whether they were on a cruise, traveling on Amtrak in connecting bedrooms with Christmas lights strewn across their large windows, or visiting numerous resorts, the “Ladies” shared a special fellowship filled with kindness, merriment, love and "CHEERS”- eyes. These adventures always included lots of laughs, nicknames and inside jokes. Sue’s compassion, sense of humor and ability to sincerely love added much richness to those in her sacred circle. These treasured memories will lift us in times of sadness and warm our hearts.
The following quote from David M. Romano’s poem “If Tomorrow Starts Without Me” resonated deeply within Sue: “So if tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, please know I'm in your heart.” Speaking of hearts, Sue loved hearts, butterflies and hummingbirds. So, if you are lucky enough to spot any of these in your daily life, just know she is right there with you — it’s her way of saying hello, I am here and I love you.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Davis; Chuck’s parents, Owen and Loretta Reince; her son, William Reince; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Reince.
Sue is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Reince, their children and grandchildren: daughter Sundi (Reince) with her husband Ben Stansell, grandson Evan Reince Seibert, grandson Kai Seibert, son Jeff Reince; son Greg Reince along with his wife, Desiree, and their two daughters Aurora and Kaleia; and her Siblings: Cam Davis, Joni Davis, and Dave Davis.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation in Sue’s honor to either Susan G. Komen or Hospice of North Idaho.
