A 41-year-old woman allegedly attacked a teenage relative in Coram on Thursday and later opened fire on other family members, leading to a standoff with authorities.
Authorities are holding Anne Hislop in the Flathead County Detention Center on pending charges of attempted deliberate homicide, assault with a weapon, sexual assault and resisting arrest. She was expected to make an initial appearance in court on Friday.
Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the Platte Road home about 5:05 p.m., Nov. 21, said Sheriff Brian Heino in a statement. A caller had told emergency responders that Hislop allegedly began shooting at relatives as they attempted to flee the home.
Arriving deputies cordoned off the home, Heino said. As they attempted to contact Hislop, they heard gunfire coming from the home, he said.
Hislop allegedly refused to come out, instead barricading herself inside.
She exited after members of the Flathead County Regional SWAT Team shot non-lethal pepper munitions into the home, Heino said.
Hislop allegedly continued to ignore commands from authorities but was taken into custody with the help of a K9 unit about 8 p.m.
She later received treatment for minor injuries suffered during the standoff, Heino said.
