Pear committee elections scheduled during annual meeting

YAKIMA — Nominations will be open for two Washington state positions on the Processed Pear Committee during the Washington State Tree Fruit Association annual meeting on Dec. 9 in Yakima.
“The Processed Pear Committee was established to administer federal marketing order provisions relating to the handling of pears for processing,” according to a PPC press release.
Nominations will be accepted for one grower position and one handler position. The incumbent for the grower position is Shawn Phelps; the handler position is held by Brian Daines. The alternate handler position is held by Amanda Adams, but the alternate grower position is vacant.
The positions will be among those voted on during the upcoming annual meeting.
