After losing to unbeaten Plains this past Tuesday, the St. Regis Lady Tigers were looking for a solid volleyball win.

They got all they were looking for in their tough, 3-2 match road win over Victor two nights later.

The first set was competitive from start to finish, with Victor getting off to an early 5-3 lead, then watching as St. Regis knotted the score at 5-each.  The score went back and forth most of the set and was tied again at 20-20 before the Lady Tigers were able to separate themselves from Victor on their way to an opening set 25-21 victory and a 1-0 match lead.

Victor came back in the second set and tied the match with a hard-fought 25-19 win on their home court.  The usually pivotal third set featured an early 7-2 lead by St. Regis.  The Lady Tigers managed to hold on and expand the lead from mid-set on, coming away with a 25-15 win and a 2-1 match lead.

Set number four belonged to Victor, although they could never manage more than a 15-10 lead before hanging on to defeat St. Regis 25-23 and tie the match at two sets each.

In the deciding fifth set, the Lady Tigers jumped out to a 4-1 lead, held off a brief Victor rally and were eventually able to put the Lady Pirates away, 15-7 on an ace by senior Shylah Dalka.

Dalka led the Lady Tigers with 17 digs, while Lily Sansom and Avery Burnham had nine kills apiece.  Jamie Kearbey led St. Regis with five service aces, while Shelby Simkins had a team-best eight assists.

The win improved St. Regis to 3-2 on the season, while Victor fell to 1-4 with the loss.

St. Regis has just one scheduled match this week, a home match with Alberton this Tuesday (Oct 1).
