OTHELLO — The principal of Othello High School contacted the Othello Police Department on Sept. 26 saying he had suspicions that there was a man who was potentially giving students drugs near the campus, according to a statement from OPD.
The school resource officers began an investigation, completed interviews and collected evidence. SRO’s then arrested Oscar Reyes-Terezon and booked him into Benton County Jail for two felony charges of distributing drugs to minors.
Then, Oct. 3 OPD conducted a search warrant on Reyes-Terezon's home, where Reyes-Terezon was located and the search of his home revealed more illegal drugs. Reyes-Terezon was arrested and booked into Sunnyside Jail on misdemeanor drug charges.
“We have said this before and it’s something that cannot be compromised; we must protect our kids at all cost,” reads the statement from OPD.
OPD asks the community to remain vigilant and to work with the department to keep the community safe. The department also thanked the Othello School District and the school's principal for “unwavering dedication and vigilance to our student’s safety and well-being.”
Responding agencies included OPD and the Airway Heights Police Department K9 Officers.
