Shoshone News-Press | UPDATED 1 month, 1 week AGO
Mary E. Lennon of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Sept. 27, 2024, at Mountain Valley of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation, Kellogg, Idaho, at the age of 96. Mary was born to Thomas and Mabel Seely in Kellogg on Feb. 2, 1928. She was the youngest of four sisters.
She graduated from Kellogg High School with the Class of 1946. Other than some early years spent in Superior, Mont., Mary spent her entire life in Kellogg. She married Thomas “Tommy” Lennon on Aug. 1, 1947, and spent 48 years with the love of her life until his passing in 1995. Mary converted to Catholicism and was a devout member of St. Rita’s Church in Kellogg. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and held various offices over the years.
Mary spent most of her working career as a teller at Idaho First National Bank in Kellogg, although her greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful mother to five kids. She had a great knack for making each of them feel like the favorite. Over her long life, she made many lifelong friends throughout the Silver Valley. She was a caring and faithful friend to all who knew her. Her love of cats rubbed off on her children. She maintained her quick wit even as her memory regressed over the last few years. She will be missed, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, including the Mountain Valley of Cascadia staff. The family is thankful for the loving care she received there the last few years of her life.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy; her three sisters, Phyllis Anderson, Edith Macale and Doris Decoy; her son, Kevin (Sandi); her daughter-in-law, Theresa; and great-grandson Tommy Gianarelli.
As the Matriarch of the Lennon-Laskey Clan, she leaves behind a large family who grieve her passing despite her long, well-lived life. They include her daughter, Kathy (Greg) Russell of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sons Danny of Spokane, Wash., Jim (Peggy) of Seattle, Wash., and Terry (Jane) of Spokane, Wash. She also leaves a hole in the hearts of numerous nieces and nephews, 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, 11 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg, Idaho, with Father Jerome Montez officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall of the church. Inurnment will occur at Greenwood Cemetery, Kellogg.
