Three-time champ Hatley ties for second at PNW pro-am
BREWSTER, Wash. — Amateur Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake and Community Colleges of Spokane golf coach Corey Prugh teamed to finish second at the Pacific Northwest Pro-Amateur Championship, which concluded Friday at Gamble Sands Golf Club.
Hatley and Prugh shot a 22-under-par 122 (58-64) in the four-ball competition, five shots back of the winners, Blake Snyder (Pacific Northwest Golf Academy) and Race Porter (Inglewood Golf Club), who shot a 27-under 117 (55-62).
Hatley won the event in 2013, ‘21 and ‘23.
Billy Bomar (Bomar Putting Company) and amateur Andrew Von Lossow finished tied for 28th at 12-under 132 (64-68).
WSU men will host inaugural WCC home game at Spokane Arena
PULLMAN — The Washington State men's basketball team announced its inaugural home game as an affiliate member of the West Coast Conference will be hosted at Spokane Arena on Monday, Dec. 30 against Loyola Marymount.
The Cougars have played regularly at Spokane Arena, holding an all-time record of 20-19 in the venue. WSU has played a game at Spokane Arena every season, except 2020, since 2016. Last season, the Cougars defeated Boise State, 66-61, in Spokane on Dec. 21, 2023.
“With the Washington State campus being closed, and most students away from Pullman, we viewed this as a great opportunity to bring the Cougs to Spokane,” first-year WSU head coach David Riley said.
Washington State will play twice at Spokane Arena this upcoming season, first facing Eastern Washington (Riley's former team) in a neutral site, nonconference clash, on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The last time Wazzu played a conference game at Spokane Arena came in an overtime loss to Colorado on Jan. 8, 2014. During the 2011-12 season, the Cougars hosted Oregon and Oregon State in the Lilac City, splitting the weekend with a win over the Beavers in the Pac-12’s inaugural season.
Gonzaga men's games move to 96.1 FM, 590 AM
SPOKANE — Gonzaga Athletics and Learfield/Gonzaga Sports Properties announced that iHeartMedia will become the new radio home for the Gonzaga Bulldog men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The partnership will bring fans live game day broadcasts for Zag men's basketball and women's basketball, as well as coaches' shows.
iHeartMedia's KQNT-AM 590 will become the flagship station, for men's basketball programming simulcast on KFOO-FM 96.1. GU women’s basketball will be available on KZFS-FM 101.5.
Zags men's games were previously on KGA 1510 AM, 103.5 FM and 101.1 FM.
“The move of our network's flagship radio station to 590 KQNT is a huge win for our fans in Spokane," Gonzaga athletic director Chris Standiford said. “The powerful signals of 590 KQNT and 96.1 for men’s basketball and Hooptown 101.5 for women’s basketball will give Gonzaga fans a crystal clear broadcast of all the Zag coverage.”
Zag fans can also stream games and coaches shows through iHeart’s live streaming service. Additionally, broadcasts are available on SiriusXM satellite radio and streamed live worldwide on The Varsity Network app.
Tom Hudson, entering his 23rd year as the ‘The Voice of the Bulldogs’, will continue his play-by-play role on game days, alongside analyst Adam Morrison. Steve Myklebust returns as the play-by-play voice for GU women’s basketball.
Gonzaga men’s basketball tips off with Numerica Kraziness in the Kennel today at 3 p.m. Women’s basketball’s annual Numerica Fan Fest is at 3 p.m. Oct. 12.
