MATTAWA – Last Wednesday, Grant County Sheriff’s office answered a shooting call in the 15000 block of Road 25-SW.

According to GCSO, a woman went to meet up with a male friend at an orchard outside of Mattawa. Then the woman’s ex-boyfriend, Juan Castro, 34, of Mattawa showed up, argued with the male friend, then pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the male friend who then ran into the orchard for safety. Castro then drove away. No one was injured.

Deputies then called the suspect on the phone, convinced him to surrender and took him into custody at his parents’ house near Mattawa. Castro was lodged in Grant County Jail for investigation of first-degree assault.
