Harvesting memories at Graceland North Farm

RATHDRUM — What started as a small pumpkin patch for Jill and Mike Guindon’s grandchildren has grown into something much more at Graceland North Farm in Rathdrum.
The Guindons have offered Pumpkin Patch Experiences for eight years, making their farm a popular destination for home school group outings and families. The Experiences began as a field trip for their grandchildren and classmates and grew from there.
“We love sharing this,” Mike Guindon said. “It’s a lot of work but we’re really grateful to be able to do this.”
During the Pumpkin Patch Experience, kids and families get 90-minute tours that involves encounters with baby animals, pumpkin picking, games, treats and more.
“This is by far the most individualized experience at a pumpkin patch, especially with all the attention given to the kids,” said Jessica Nordlie, who brought her children to Graceland North Farm earlier this week.
“I think it’s great for the kids to see farm life, like how to take care of animals and grow things, even if it’s just for a little bit,” said Justine Sanchez, who also brought her children to the Pumpkin Patch Experience.
The Guindons begin preparations around the farm in April to make sure they have enough pumpkins in time for fall.
“It’s a lot of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears, and a lot of thought and love go into it, and we are just happy others can enjoy it with us,” Jill said.
Pumpkin Patch Experiences run through Oct. 30 and cost $13 per person for anyone over the age of 2. To reserve a spot, call or text Jill at 208-755-7643.
